Rule 3.1115 Declarations

The caption is the header at the top of a legal document. For a declaration, that header must include two things: the name of the person making the statement, and a clear description of which motion or court proceeding the declaration is supporting or opposing.

This matters because judges and court staff handle many documents at once. A properly labeled declaration helps everyone quickly understand who wrote it and why it was filed.
