Court Rules Network is a free reference site for federal and state court rules, published by Michigan Legal Publishing Ltd. Our goal is to make court rules genuinely readable and useful for practicing attorneys, law students, paralegals, and anyone navigating the court system.

What we offer

  • Full rule text: the complete, current text of each rule, formatted for reading on screen
  • Plain-English summaries: each rule explained in plain language, written at an accessible reading level
  • Committee notes: the full historical advisory committee notes showing how each rule has evolved and why
  • Amendment history: a record of when each rule was amended
  • Cross-references: inline links connecting rules that reference each other, so you can follow the thread without losing your place
  • Full-text search: search across all rule sets at once, or filter by jurisdiction

Federal rule text and committee notes are sourced from the Office of Law Revision Counsel (OLRC), which publishes the official United States Code in XML format. Federal rules are updated annually when OLRC releases a new edition, typically following the December 1 effective date for rule amendments.

California rules

We publish all nine active titles of the California Rules of Court:

  • Title 10:Judicial Administration Rules

California rule text is sourced directly from the Judicial Council of California, which publishes current rule sets in PDF format. California rules are updated when the Judicial Council issues new orders amending the rules, typically effective January 1.

Delaware rules

We publish the five major Delaware court rule sets:

  • Delaware Court of Chancery Civil Rules
  • Delaware Superior Court Civil Rules
  • Delaware Superior Court Criminal Rules
  • Delaware Supreme Court Rules
  • Delaware Rules of Evidence

Delaware rule text is sourced directly from the Delaware Courts website, which publishes current rule sets in PDF format. Delaware rules are updated when the courts publish revised editions.

Texas rules

We publish the three major Texas court rule sets:

  • Texas Rules of Civil Procedure (TRCP)
  • Texas Rules of Evidence (TRE)
  • Texas Rules of Appellate Procedure (TRAP)

Texas rule text is sourced directly from the Texas Courts website, which publishes current rule sets in PDF format. Texas rules are updated when the Texas Supreme Court or Texas Court of Criminal Appeals issues new orders.

Michigan rules

We publish the two major Michigan court rule sets:

  • Michigan Court Rules (MCR)
  • Michigan Rules of Evidence (MRE)

Michigan rule text is sourced directly from the Michigan Courts website, which publishes current rule sets in PDF format. Michigan rules are updated when the Michigan Supreme Court issues new orders amending the rules.

Currency and accuracy

We update our rule sets regularly from the primary official sources listed above. Each rule set displays the date it was last imported. While we work to keep rules current and accurately formatted, users should verify critical text against the official source publications, particularly for rules that have been recently amended.
