Rule 3.1200 Application

When someone needs to ask a judge for something quickly, without the other side being present, that is called an "ex parte" application. This chapter contains the rules that explain how to do that in civil cases.

These rules apply to all civil cases in California unless a specific law or other court rule says something different. When you see a reference to "the ex parte rules" anywhere in court documents or legal filings, it is referring to the rules in this chapter.
