Rule 3.1335 Motion or application to advance, specially set, or reset trial date

If you want to move your trial date, whether that means pushing it sooner or changing it to a different date, you cannot just call the court or ask informally. You must file either a noticed motion or an ex parte application, which are formal written requests that follow specific court procedures.

Your request will not be granted just because you ask. You need to show the court a good reason for the change. That reason must be explained in a signed, written statement called a declaration, which you file and send to the other side along with your request.
