A business or person who owns a trade secret can keep that secret private during court proceedings. They can refuse to share it, and they can stop others from sharing it too.

There is one limit to this protection. A court will not allow a business to hide a trade secret if doing so would cover up fraud or cause unfair harm to someone else. If the secret is being used to cheat people or hide wrongdoing, the protection goes away.
