When two people are in a dispute, one side might offer money or something else to settle the case. If that happens, neither side can use that offer in court to argue that the claim is weak or invalid.

This protects honest settlement talks. If someone could use your settlement offer against you in court, people would stop trying to work things out on their own. The law wants to encourage people to settle disputes without going to trial.

This rule covers more than just the offer itself. It also covers anything said or done during those settlement talks. So if you made a statement while trying to negotiate a deal, that statement cannot be brought into court to hurt your case.
