Rule 668 An unlawful intent is presumed from the doing of an unlawful act.

If someone does something illegal, the court can assume they meant to do it. You don't have to prove they had bad intentions. The fact that they did the illegal act is enough for the court to presume intent.

There is one important exception. In a criminal case, if the crime requires the prosecutor to prove a specific mental state (like "willfully" or "knowingly"), this rule does not apply. The prosecutor still has to prove that the defendant had that specific intent in their mind when they acted.
