Rule 1.200 Format of citations

When you file a legal document in a California court, you need to cite your cases and other sources in a specific format. You can choose between two accepted style guides: the California Style Manual or The Bluebook.

You get to pick which style guide to follow, but once you choose one, you must stick with it for the whole document. You cannot mix styles within the same filing.
