Rule 7.952 Attendance at hearing on the petition for approval of compromise of claim

When a court is deciding whether to approve a settlement for a child or a person with a disability, both the person who filed the request and the child or disabled person must show up to the court hearing. The only exception is if the judge has a good reason to excuse them from attending in person.

The judge can also require other people to come to the hearing and testify. This includes doctors who treated or examined the injured person. The judge uses this power to make sure the settlement is fair and in the best interest of the child or disabled person.
