Rule 2.261
Authorization for courts to continue modifying forms for the purpose of electronic filing and forms generation
Filing and Service by Electronic Means
Courts that participated in pilot projects for electronic filing and forms generation under former rule 981.5 are authorized to continue to modify Judicial Council forms for the purpose of accepting electronic filing or providing electronic generation of court documents provided that the modification of the forms is consistent with the rules in this chapter.
Some California courts ran test programs for electronic filing and creating court forms online. Those courts are allowed to keep making changes to official court forms so they can work with electronic filing systems.
Any changes the courts make to these forms must follow the other rules in this chapter. Courts cannot change forms in ways that go against those rules.
