When a guardian sells or borrows against property that belongs to a person under their care, the person who was supposed to inherit that property does not lose their inheritance. Instead, the money from the sale or loan takes the place of the original property.

The guardian must keep track of that money separately so it can be passed on to the right person later. The heir gets their fair share of the money, in the same proportion as their share of the original property would have been.
