Rule 193 Prohibited Compensation

Workers in the Register of Wills office are not allowed to accept extra money or payments for helping someone with an estate. This means they cannot charge you separately for personal help they give you beyond their normal job duties.

If you are settling a loved one's estate, you should know that any help you get from these office workers is part of their regular job. You do not need to pay them anything extra, and you should not offer to do so.
