Rule 1006 Summaries to Prove Content

When you have a large amount of documents, records, or photos that would be too hard to go through in court, you can create a summary, chart, or calculation to show what they say. This is allowed because it would take too long to look at everything in the courtroom.

If you use a summary like this, you must let the other side look at or copy the original documents. You have to give them a fair chance to review everything at a reasonable time and place. The judge can also order you to bring the original documents to court if needed.
