Rule 26 Taking of testimony

When someone testifies in a criminal trial, they must appear in person and speak out loud in the courtroom. This is the standard way courts hear from witnesses.

There are some exceptions to this requirement. Other laws or court rules can allow testimony to be given in a different way, such as by written statement or video. The Delaware rules of evidence and Supreme Court rules can also set up these exceptions.
