Rule 3.14 Return of papers to court.

When police carry out a search warrant, they can't just keep the paperwork. The officer who executed the warrant has to bring it back to the judge or magistrate who issued it. This includes a list of anything that was seized during the search. The judge then sends these documents to the court clerk, who keeps them on file.

This rule also covers search warrants that never got used. If a warrant expires or isn't carried out for some reason, it still has to be returned to the judge the same way. This creates a paper trail so there's always an official record of what warrants were issued, whether they were used, and what was taken during any search. This helps keep the process honest and gives everyone involved, including the person whose property was searched, a way to check that things were done properly.
