In an expedited civil case, both sides have deadlines for sharing information about the experts they plan to use at trial. The plaintiff (the person who filed the lawsuit) must give the other side details about their experts at least 60 days before discovery ends. Discovery is the phase where both sides gather evidence and information from each other. The defendant has a shorter deadline and must share their expert information at least 30 days before discovery ends.
This rule also covers how expert testimony gets presented at trial. Experts, including doctors who treated the patient, can testify either in person at trial or through a deposition, which is recorded testimony given before trial. If both sides want to present expert testimony some other way, they need to agree to that in writing first.
The main point of this rule is to keep expedited cases moving quickly. By setting clear deadlines for expert information, both sides know what evidence to expect well before trial, which helps avoid surprises and keeps the case on schedule.
