Rule I Effective Date.

Rule Text

These Rules shall be effective to actions filed on or after January 1, 2017.

This rule sets the start date for using Alabama's expedited civil action process. It only applies to lawsuits filed on or after January 1, 2017.

If a case was filed before that date, these faster court procedures don't apply to it. Anyone filing a new civil case on or after January 1, 2017 can use this streamlined process, which is designed to move cases through court more quickly than the standard rules allow.

Comments

These Rules become effective on January 1, 2017. Additionally, the Supreme Court has indicated that it will, in 18 months after the effective date, evaluate the impact and efficacy of these Rules.
