Rule 36 Paper size of documents filed with court.

Any paper you file with the court needs to be standard letter size, which is 8½ by 11 inches. This applies to things like pleadings, motions, briefs, depositions, and discovery requests and responses.

The only exception is traffic cases, which don't have to follow this size requirement. For every other type of case, courts expect this standard paper size whenever it's practical to use it.

This rule exists to keep court files consistent and easy to manage. Clerks handle huge amounts of paperwork, and having one standard size makes filing, storing, and copying documents much simpler.
