Rule 7 Pleadings Allowed

In Arizona civil court, there is a specific list of documents that count as "pleadings." These include the complaint that starts a lawsuit, answers to that complaint, and several other related documents when the situation calls for them.

You can also file a counterclaim (when a defendant sues the plaintiff back) or a crossclaim (when one defendant makes a claim against another defendant). If someone brings a new party into the lawsuit, that requires a third-party complaint and an answer to it.

A reply to an answer is only allowed if the judge specifically orders one. You cannot just file one on your own.
