Rule 21.1 Applicable Law

When a jury needs instructions in a criminal case, the court follows the same basic steps used in civil cases. Arizona's civil court rules (Rule 51) explain how jury instructions are submitted, reviewed, and given to the jury.

There may be some differences in criminal cases, but for the most part, the process works the same way. If you are involved in a criminal case, the rules about jury instructions are not completely different from what you might find in a civil case.
