Rule 402 General Admissibility of Relevant Evidence

Evidence must be relevant to be allowed in court. If a piece of evidence has nothing to do with the case, a judge will not allow it.

Even relevant evidence can be kept out if a law or court rule says so. The U.S. Constitution, the Arizona Constitution, state laws, and court rules can all require a judge to exclude certain evidence, even if it relates to the case.
