Rule 802 The Rule Against Hearsay

Hearsay is generally not allowed in court. Hearsay is when someone repeats what another person said outside of court, and tries to use it as evidence to prove something is true.

There are some exceptions, though. Hearsay can be allowed if the U.S. Constitution, an Arizona law, or specific court rules say it is okay. The Arizona Rules of Evidence themselves list several situations where hearsay is permitted.
