Rule 18 Enforcing a Judgment

When you win a small claims case, getting a judgment is only the first step. If the person who lost does not pay, you have legal tools to collect what you are owed.

Arizona law gives winners several ways to enforce a judgment. This can include garnishing wages, placing a lien on property, or seizing certain assets belonging to the person who owes money.

Unlike the small claims hearing itself, you are allowed to hire a lawyer to help you collect after the judgment is entered. Many people find this helpful because collecting a judgment can be more complicated than the original court case.
