Rule 3.1 Original Special Actions Other Than Statutory Special Actions

If you have a problem with a court decision or a government official's actions, you cannot automatically go straight to a higher court through a special action. You first need to check whether there is a normal, regular legal process you could use instead.

A special action is only an option when the regular legal options available to you are not good enough. If you could handle your issue through a standard appeal or another ordinary legal remedy that works just as well, you are expected to use that path first.
