Rule 1.1 Compliance with the Law

Judges must follow all laws, just like everyone else. On top of that, they must also follow a special set of rules called the Code of Judicial Conduct, which sets standards for how judges should behave on and off the bench.

This means a judge cannot ignore or break the law simply because they hold a powerful position. If a judge breaks the law or violates the Code of Judicial Conduct, they can face disciplinary action.
