ER 3.2 Expediting Litigation

Lawyers must try to move their cases forward at a reasonable pace. They cannot intentionally slow things down or cause unnecessary delays in court proceedings.

This rule exists to protect everyone involved in a case, not just the client. Dragging out a case on purpose, even if a client might benefit from the delay, is not acceptable. A lawyer can only slow things down when there is a good reason that serves the client's real legal interests, not just to stall.
