Rule 8.368 Hearing and decision in the Supreme Court

When a criminal case is appealed all the way to the California Supreme Court, a separate set of rules takes over. Those rules are numbered 8.500 through 8.552, and they cover how the Supreme Court handles and decides the case.

This rule simply points you to the right place. If you need to know what happens at the Supreme Court level in a criminal appeal, you look at those rules rather than the ones that applied in the lower appellate court.
