Rule 8.7 Construction

The general construction rules found in rule 1.5 apply to all the appellate rules. Construction rules are guidelines that explain how to read and interpret the rules correctly.

One extra point applies specifically to the appellate rules: the headings and titles you see throughout the rules actually matter. Unlike some legal documents where headings are just for organization, here the headings carry real meaning and are part of the rule itself. So when reading an appellate rule, pay attention to the title or heading, not just the text below it.
