Rule 8.819 Sealed records

If a lower court sealed some records in your case, those records stay sealed when your case moves to the appellate division. The same rules that applied to sealing them before still apply.

If someone wants to seal records during the appeal, the appellate division follows specific rules (rules 2.550-2.551) to decide whether sealing is allowed. Those rules set up a process for requesting, reviewing, and approving sealed records.
