Rule 8.85 Fees for copies of electronic records

If you ask a California appeals court for copies of its electronic records, you may have to pay a fee. The court is allowed to charge you for the cost of providing those copies.

This fee is based on a state law called Government Code section 68928. The court is not required to give you free copies just because the records are in electronic form.
