When one side in a case calls a witness to testify, the other side gets a turn to ask that witness questions. This is called cross-examination.

The questions during cross-examination must stay focused on the same topics that were already covered during the first round of questioning. You cannot use cross-examination to bring up completely new subjects that were not part of the original testimony.
