Rule 762 “Redirect examination” is an examination of a witness by the direct examiner subsequent to the cross-examination of the witness.

After a witness gets questioned by the other side (cross-examination), the lawyer who first called that witness gets another turn to ask questions. This is called redirect examination.

This second round of questions gives the original lawyer a chance to clear up anything confusing that came up during cross-examination. It helps make sure the jury or judge gets the full picture of what the witness was trying to say.
