Rule 1.37 Use of forms

When you need to file official court paperwork in California, you must use the most up-to-date version of the form provided by the Judicial Council. Using an old or outdated version of the form is not allowed.

The Judicial Council is the group that creates and updates official court forms for California. You can find the current versions of these forms on the California Courts website. Some specific court rules do allow for different forms in certain situations, but unless a rule says otherwise, you must stick with the official current form.
