Rule 2.116 Changes on face of paper

When someone makes a change to a court document, like crossing out words or adding new text, a judge or court clerk must initial that change when the document is filed.

This rule exists to show that any edits to official court papers were reviewed and approved by a court official. If changes are not initialed, the court may not accept them as valid.
