§ 1241 [Statement Explaining Declarant's Conduct Exception]

This rule lets someone repeat a statement in court, even though it's normally considered hearsay, if the statement helps explain what the person was doing at the time.

For the statement to count, two things have to be true. First, the statement must help make sense of an action the person was taking. Second, the person must have said it while they were actually doing that action, not before or after.

For example, if someone said "I'm locking this door because the alarm is broken" while they were locking a door, that statement could be used in court to explain why they were locking it. The law allows this because the words and the action happened together, which makes the statement more trustworthy and useful for understanding what really happened.
