Colorado has done away with the old, complicated system of different types of lawsuits for different situations. Now there's just one type of case for civil matters, simply called a "civil action."

This means you don't have to worry about picking the "right" old-fashioned label for your lawsuit or following different procedures based on some historical category. Whether you're suing over a contract, a property dispute, an injury, or almost any other civil matter, you file the same type of case and follow the same basic set of rules. This makes the process simpler and less confusing for everyone involved.
