D.D.C. — Criminal rule
LCrR 45.1 SPEEDY TRIAL Pursuant to the requirements of Rule 50(b) of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, the Speedy Trial Act of 1974 (18 U.S.C. Chapter 208), the Speedy Trial Amendment Act of 1979 (Pub. L. No. 96-43, 93 Stat. 327), and the Federal Juvenile Delinquency Act, as amended (18 U.S.C. §§ 5036, 5037), the judges of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia have adopted a Speedy Trial Plan to minimize undue delay and to further the prompt disposition of criminal cases and certain juvenile proceedings. A copy of the Speedy Trial Plan is available from the Clerk's Office.
COMMENT TO LCrR 45.1: This Rule incorporates the Speedy Trial Plan but removes the full text from the Rule. Copies of the Plan are available upon request from the Clerk's office. Many federal courts utilize this procedure and do not restate the full Plan in the rules.
