Rule 83.5 Law Clerks: Restrictions on Law Practice

(a) Current Law Clerks No one may practice law while serving as a law clerk to a judge of this Court.

(b) Former Law Clerks

(1) No former law clerk may appear as counsel before the judge for whom they previously clerked for a period of one year after separating from that position.

(2) No former law clerk may ever practice as an attorney in connection with any case that the judge for whom they previously clerked acted on during the law clerk's tenure, whether or not the former law clerk had any involvement with the case.
