Local Criminal Rule 12-1 - Continuance in Criminal Cases A motion for continuance in a criminal case must set forth its conformity with the Speedy Trial Act, 18 U.S.C. § 3161 et seq., including, if applicable, a demonstration that the ends of justice outweigh the best interest of the public and the defendant to a speedy trial, as provided by 18 U.S.C. § 3161(h)(7). The moving party must submit with the motion a proposed entry setting out the findings as to these ends of justice, if applicable, or such other reasons why the continuance complies with the Speedy Trial Act.
