LR Cr P 58.1. Authority of Magistrate Judges in Misdemeanor Cases Magistrate judges are specially designated to try persons accused of, and sentence persons convicted of, misdemeanors committed within the Southern District of West Virginia, as provided in 18 U.S.C. § 3401.
