Rule 9 Stay pending reconsideration or appeal

(a) Stay upon Motion for Reconsideration or appeal. The court may stay the execution or enforcement of a judgment or order pending the disposition of a motion made pursuant to a Motion for Reconsideration or an appeal brought pursuant to SCR-PD 8 and may prescribe such conditions as are deemed by the court to be necessary to secure the benefit of the judgment or order to the party in whose favor such judgment or order is entered or otherwise as the court may determine.

(b) Power of appellate court not limited. The provisions of this Rule do not limit any power of an appellate court or of a judge or justice thereof to stay proceedings during the pendency of an appeal or to make any order appropriate to preserve the status quo or the effectiveness of the judgment subsequently to be entered.
