Rule 9030
Jurisdiction and Venue Not Extended or Limited
GENERAL PROVISIONS
Rule Text
These rules must not be construed to extend or limit the courts’ jurisdiction or the venue of any matters.
Plain-English Summary (for reference only — not a substitute for the rule text above)
This rule is straightforward. The bankruptcy rules themselves do not give courts more power or less power than they already have. They also do not change where a case can or must be heard.
In other words, these rules are just procedures for how to handle a bankruptcy case. They do not affect the legal authority a court has or which court is the right place to file.
