Rule 7 Commissioner’s Brief

When you file your brief in a Social Security case, the government's representative (the Commissioner) has 30 days to respond with their own written argument. The clock starts once the Commissioner receives your brief.

This gives both sides a chance to present their arguments in writing before the judge makes a decision. Make sure you keep track of when your brief was served so you know roughly when to expect the Commissioner's response.
