Rule 3.520 Verdict in Case of Joint Defendants

When multiple people are being tried together in the same criminal case, the jury does not have to reach a verdict on all of them at the same time. The jury can return a verdict for some defendants while still being undecided about others.

This means each defendant is treated separately when it comes to the final decision. If the jury agrees on a verdict for one person but cannot agree on another, they can still move forward and announce what they decided for the person they agreed on.
