Rule 3.721 Record of the Proceedings

When someone is sentenced in a Florida criminal case, the court must keep a full record of everything that happens during the sentencing hearing. This record must be saved in a way that allows it to be typed up and printed later if needed.

This matters because a written transcript of the sentencing can be used if someone appeals their sentence or challenges how the hearing was handled. Without a proper record, it would be very hard to review what was said or decided during sentencing.
