Rule 8.170 Guardian Ad Litem

A guardian ad litem is a person the court appoints to represent a child's best interests during a court case. The judge can make this appointment at any point in the case, not just at the beginning.

The guardian ad litem does not have to pay any money or put up a deposit to take on this role. They do need to sign and file a paper with the court saying they accept the job.
