Rule 8.203 Application of Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act

When someone starts a juvenile court case involving child custody, they must file a special sworn statement along with their paperwork. This statement, called an affidavit, covers what the person personally knows about the child's custody situation under a law called the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act.

Everyone involved in the case also has an ongoing responsibility to tell the court about any other custody cases involving the same child. This applies to cases happening in Florida or in any other state. If you find out about another custody case at any point during the proceedings, you must share that information with the court.
