Rule 8.840 Remand of Proceedings

When a young person appeals a court decision and a higher court sends the case back down to the lower court, the lower court must make its ruling quickly. The judge has only 3 business days to issue a decision after receiving the case back.

This short deadline exists because these are juvenile cases, where delays can have a real impact on a young person's life. If you are involved in one of these cases, you should expect to hear from the court very soon after an appeal is sent back to the lower court.
