Rule 10 Amending the Notice of Infraction

If you get a traffic ticket, the details on it can't be changed later by the judge or the court clerk. Whatever infraction is written on the ticket when it's issued is what stays on the record. Nobody has the power to fix mistakes or swap out the charge after the fact.

If the ticket doesn't actually describe a real traffic violation, the court must throw it out. This protects people from being punished for something that isn't a valid charge in the first place. So if the notice is written incorrectly or doesn't match an actual infraction under the law, the case gets dismissed instead of being corrected.
