Rule 129 Transfer or Waiver Hearing.

If your case might be moved from family court to adult criminal court, you have the right to a lawyer at the hearing where that decision gets made. You cannot be forced to go through this hearing alone.

If the judge decides to send the case to criminal court, the judge must explain the specific reasons for that decision in writing. The judge cannot just make the transfer without laying out clear facts and reasons that support it. This gives you and your lawyer a clear record of why the case was moved, which can matter if you want to challenge that decision later.
